"Souls in concrete" concept was born during the pandemic and is a tribute to contemplation and pause.
It is the result of intimate walks on the deserted streets of Chișinău - a city marked by harsh austerity policies during the last 30 years of transition: from a Soviet city to a city in search of its own identity, influenced by the "pro-European" transition.
Victor Ciobanu was born and currently works in the Republic of Moldova. He graduated in Film Directing and Decorative Arts at the Academy of Theater, Music and Fine Arts in Chișinău. Currently, in addition to multimedia and documentary film projects, he paints urban landscapes that are perceived like film scenography.

Concept

On June 11, the vernissage of the exhibition “Breathing with One Voice” will take place at two sites in the city of Chisinau: in the Museum of the History of the City of Chisinau and in the independent cultural “Zpatiu” space.

The exhibition “Breathing with One Voice” is the result of the project “Pandemic, Artist and Ecology”, focused on the creative convergence of Moldovan artists, photographers, activists and ecologists during global transformations and changes. The exhibition brought together artists from the left and right banks, as well as Moldovan artists from far and near abroad in the frame of the Platform CULTURE, with the support of the EU funded Confidence-building program (EU-SBM V) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program.

The exposition “Breathing with One Voice” offers a joint journey into a world without borders, which over the past year have increasingly divided people and hinder interaction and consolidation. The exhibition space actually blurs the boundaries between countries and regions, creating a space for dialogue and comunication, where the artist and the viewer can breathe together, plunging into the artist’s everyday life, into his environment, worries, dreams, fears and ways of working with a new reality. “Breathing together – it was so natural for people, but nowadays it is a great value for all mankind” – summed up the main idea of the exhibition Tatiana Fiodorova, author of the project “Pandemic, Ecology and Artist”, artist, teacher, chairman of the online platform “ART-PLOSHADKA “.

The exhibition features works created by Moldovan artists from March 2020 to the present day.

About the project:

The main goal of the project „ Pandemic, Ecology and Artist” is to build links between artists of the two banks, which includes a number of publications for “ART-PLOSHADKA”, with artists, environmentalists and activists aimed at uncovering the theme of pandemic, ecology and the artist (photographer).
In June 2020 took place an online meeting of artists and photographers, where the participants shared their experience of living in this difficult time and discussed their further creative plans. The portal artploshadka.wordpress.com has published several online publications covering this topic, where artists, photographers and environmentalists discussed the impact of the situation with covid 19 on the life and ecology of our region.
The target audience of the event is contemporary artists, activists, cultural actors, exploring and updating various social issues from both banks of the Dniester. Artists, as indicators of modernity and transformers of society, today in these difficult days, days of isolation and barriers can contribute to the manifestation of social problems and make them visible.
The project also aims to re-streamline the online platform “ART-PLOSHADKA”, which was created in 2008. The activities of the “ART-PLOSHADKA”, are aimed at creating an online community of the cultural sector in Moldova with a view to consolidating the Moldovan cultural resources, as well as the formation and expansion of a single cultural space, covering a variety of arts and culture.
The event is held as part of the second stage of the Culture Platform, coordinated by the National Committee ICOM Moldova in partnership with the Paragon Economic, Social and Cultural Development Agency, with the support of the EU funded Confidence-building program (EU-SBM V) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program.
